The example of tap water shows how small changes in daily behavior and consumption can sustainably achieve a positive impact. Tap water is significantly more environmentally friendly than bottled water. For this reason, we consciously rely on tap water in all office spaces, raise awareness in collaboration with WASSER FÜR WASSER (WfW) about sustainable water use, and support water and sanitation supply in Zambia and Mozambique.
Water – A Scarce Resource
In Switzerland, clean water is a given – and a privilege. It is tested multiple times a day using sophisticated analysis tools to ensure its high quality. Our tap water is not only available almost everywhere and at any time but is also environmentally friendly and affordable. However, in many parts of the world, the situation is different: tap water is unavailable, limited in access, too expensive, or contaminated. Around 844 million people worldwide do not have access to safe drinking water.
Umweltcheck.ch Supports WASSER FÜR WASSER (WfW)
Businesses operate within an ecological and social environment: we feel responsible for promoting environmentally conscious behavior and social engagement alongside economic efficiency. As a WfW IM BÜRO partner, we consciously use tap water in our office and refrain from bottled water. In doing so, we promote the environmentally friendly consumption of drinking water and raise awareness of the value of a safe tap water supply.
> For every analysis conducted, umweltcheck.ch donates one franc to WfW to support their work.
Through our partnership contributions, we financially support WfW's project work and systematically strengthen water and wastewater services in structurally disadvantaged communities in Zambia and Mozambique. Our partnership also promotes vocational education in the water sector and deepens awareness efforts (WASH workshops).
Project Successes
> Access to safe drinking water for over 100,000 people
> Hygienic & gender-friendly sanitation facilities for schools and surrounding communities in Mozambique
> 500 students have already completed vocational training in Zambia’s water sector
> Over 100,000 people reached annually with hygiene training
